Start Menu Missing on Windows 8 or Server 2012?

Here’s why http://blogs.windows.com/windows/b/windowsexperience/archive/2012/03/08/getting-around-in-windows-8.aspx

Well here is the Poor Man's Start Menu. No software to load.

Are you missing that start menu from your win7/2008 system.   Well here is an interesting fix.

Create a folder called START, I placed mine in a folder called toolbars on the c:\ drive.  Put shortcuts of all your favorite tools there.

Now right click on your taskbar and add new toolbar browsing to your START folder and click Select Folder.

Now slide your new START and slide as far to left side of the toolbar as you can go.  Now grab the handle for the existing default toolbar on the far left and slide it over and to the right until you see START >>  This might take a little time messing around and getting it just right.

Finally a new START menu just click on the >> and you are good to go.

Server Admins – create a folder called Admin Tools and copy all the shortcuts from
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Administrative Tools.

Also check out hidden folder (view check hidden items)  “C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs” where are the shortcuts from the start screen are stored.

If you copy those your start menu is looking good.

Missing Search just add a shortcut for C:\Users\Administrator\Searches\Everywhere.search-ms

Hope this helps!
